Rosa Maria Delgado

October 7, 1948 — August 28, 2026

San Antonio, Texas · San Antonio, Texas

Rosa Maria Delgado was born on October 7, 1948 — the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary — in San Antonio, Texas, to Ernesto and Consuelo Reyes. She was baptized at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish the following Sunday, and the Blessed Mother was her companion and model for every day of her eighty-seven years. Rosa married Alejandro Delgado on June 29, 1969, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, and together they raised six children in a home where the Rosary was prayed every evening after supper, a crucifix hung above every door, and no one left the table without giving thanks. She was a daily communicant for over fifty years, a member of the Guadalupanas for four decades, and the woman every neighbor called when they needed a meal, a prayer, or someone to sit with them in the dark. For thirty years, Rosa led the children's Rosary group at her parish, teaching hundreds of children to pray with their hands and their hearts. She made tamales every Christmas Eve, kept a candle burning before her home altar, and carried a rosary in her apron pocket until the day she died. Rosa Maria Delgado entered eternal life on August 28, 2026, the Feast of Saint Augustine. She was 87 years old. Her rosary was in her hands.

"Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope." — Salve Regina

How to use this template

This template honors a Catholic mother whose faith, rosary, and open home were the heart of her family. The Peaceful Dove theme reflects the peace of a life surrendered to God and the comfort of Our Lady's intercession.

  1. 1

    Open with her baptismal identity

Begin with her full baptismal name and, if she had a Confirmation name, include it. Note the parish where she was baptized — this grounds her story in the sacramental life of the Church.

  2. 2

    Describe her devotional life

Catholic mothers often have a rich devotional life — daily Mass, the Rosary, novenas, scapulars, or a particular Marian devotion. These details make the tribute specific and deeply personal.

  3. 3

    Honor her domestic church

The Catholic tradition calls the family the "domestic church." Describe how she made your home a place of prayer — the crucifix on the wall, grace before meals, the Advent wreath, the May crowning.

  4. 4

Include the Mass of Christian Burial

List the parish, address, date, and time of the Funeral Mass. If a Vigil (wake) service will be held the evening before, include those details as well.

  5. 5

    Preview and print

The Peaceful Dove theme prints beautifully on white or soft blue cardstock. For a folded program, print on 8.5×11 and fold in half. Consider adding a Marian prayer or the Hail Holy Queen on the back panel.

Cultural note

It is a beautiful Catholic custom to include a favorite Marian prayer or the decade of the Rosary that was her particular devotion. If she was a member of the Legion of Mary, the Sodality, or another Marian association, mention it — these communities will want to pray for her and with her family.

Print tip

The Peaceful Dove theme prints well on white or soft blue cardstock. For a more formal look, use 80 lb. matte cardstock. Print at 100% scale.
