David Aaron Cohen was born on April 18, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, to Morris and Esther Cohen, immigrants from Minsk who arrived in America with little more than hope and a fierce belief in education. David grew up in a Flatbush apartment where the Shabbat table was always set, the bookshelves were always full, and the expectation was always clear: you study, you work hard, and you give back. David attended Brooklyn College on a scholarship, graduating in 1962 with a degree in Accounting. He went on to earn his CPA license and built a respected practice in Manhattan that he ran for over thirty years. He was known for his meticulous honesty, his dry wit, and his habit of slipping a twenty-dollar bill into the hand of anyone he sensed was struggling. He married Miriam Leah Schwartz in 1964 at Temple Beth Shalom in Brooklyn, and together they raised three children in a home where Friday nights were sacred, Hebrew school was non-negotiable, and the dinner table was the center of the universe. David was a longtime member of Temple Emanu-El in Boca Raton, where he served on the finance committee for fifteen years and helped establish a scholarship fund in his parents' memory. In retirement, David studied Talmud every Tuesday morning with a chevruta partner, volunteered with the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, and spent his happiest hours watching his grandchildren grow. He told his stories freely — of Brooklyn stickball, of his parents' courage, of the America he loved — and made sure his grandchildren knew where they came from. David Aaron Cohen passed away on August 5, 2026, at the age of 86. May his memory be a blessing.

His wife of 62 years, Miriam Leah Cohen (née Schwartz); three children: Susan Cohen-Feldman (Howard) of Boca Raton, FL, Robert Aaron Cohen (Jennifer) of New York, NY, and Karen Cohen-Levy (Daniel) of Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara Cohen-Weiss of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
