Noah James Carter was born on August 11, 2014, in Portland, Oregon, to James and Rachel Carter. He came into the world with a set of lungs that announced his arrival clearly, and he spent the next eleven years announcing himself just as clearly — through his laughter, his questions, his opinions, and his absolute refusal to be bored. Noah was the kind of kid who wanted to know how everything worked. He took apart a toaster at age six (with permission, mostly), built his first working circuit board at eight, and by ten had taught himself basic coding from YouTube tutorials and library books. His parents describe a boy who was always in the middle of three projects at once and who could explain any of them in detail to anyone who asked. But Noah was not only a thinker — he was a connector. He played soccer with genuine enthusiasm if not always great skill, made friends easily and kept them loyally, and was known at Bridger Elementary and then at Beaumont Middle School as the kid who would sit with anyone at lunch. His teachers describe a student who asked the questions other kids were afraid to ask and who made class more interesting just by being in it. He loved camping, the Portland Trail Blazers, his dog Rocket, and his little sister Emma, whom he protected with the fierce tenderness of an older brother who took the job seriously. Noah James Carter left this world on July 29, 2026, at the age of eleven, after a courageous battle with illness. He was here for a short time and made it count. The stars are brighter tonight.
